Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has finalized a deal to become the next head coach of the New York Jets.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Glenn takes over a Jets team that finished 5-12 and missed the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season. New York had lofty expectations going into the 2024 season with a healthy Aaron Rodgers under center, but the team could never quite find its groove.

New York hired Glenn, most recently the Detroit Lions defensive coordinator, as their next head coach, ahead of his scheduled in-person interview with New Orleans. It’s a five-year deal, according to league sources.
