FORT KNOX, Kentucky — A Cold-War-era tank that has served as a monument for both the Third Army and US Army Central has received a bright and shiny new paint job just in time for Christmas.
The money will be used to restore its M47 tank to running order. The museum announced in November 2024 that it was more than halfway to its goal to fix up the M47 Patton, a US-built Cold War era tank.
A £15,000 donation has brought The Tank Museum closer to its £50,000 goal to restore its M47 Patton tank, with total funds now at £45,000.
