Metro Vancouverites should brace for a snowy commute in some areas on Wednesday, Feb. 5 evening. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for parts of southern and eastern Metro Vancouver, warning of the potential for significant snowfall accumulations.

Early Wednesday, temperatures dropped below -8 Celsius, with flurries expected later in the afternoon. The snowfall is expected to spread over parts of the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, and will continue into the night. Most regions will see between 2 to 4 centimetres of snow, though some areas may see more than 5 centimetres.

Metro Vancouverites should enjoy a drying trend following this week's snowstorm but another one could be on the way. Environment Canada Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau tells V.I.A. that the snowfall is expected to wane in the Lower Mainland after Wednesday, Feb. 5 as a moist Pacific system weakens.
