A carjacking turned into a police chase on Sunday morning, March, 9, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD). Officers responded to a carjacking in the 3800 block of Hickory Farms Drive around 10 a.m.

A task force aimed at reforming MPD has been formed in response to the Department of Justice’s bombshell report on the patterns and practices of the Memphis Police Department.

Memphis Police said a child is recovering tonight after being shot over the weekend. Investigators said the juvenile was brought to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in a private vehicle. At this time, investigators are still searching for a crime scene.

Community leaders, faith groups and civil rights advocates marched across Downtown Memphis Wednesday night to voice their displeasure with the city’s response to a Department of Justice report on the Memphis Police Department.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A child accidentally shot themselves in the 500 block of Guthrie Avenue, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) said. MPD responded to the shooting at 5 p.m. Monday. The child was transported to Le Bonheur Hospital in non-critical condition, police said.
