For the first time in 2025, Ohio State didn't have a game decided in the final minutes as the Buckeyes took down Iowa on Monday night.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s national title defense will come with a new face running the defense. The Buckeyes are losing defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. After three seasons in Columbus, he’s leaving to serve as Penn State’s defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.

The increased spending included severance payments of more than $9 million, including the buyout of former men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann. Ohio State also spent nearly $7 million more in salaries in bonuses to Day and 10 primary assistants than the previous year.

Iowa defeated Penn State, 76-75, at home Friday night while Ohio State knocked off Purdue, 73-70, in West Lafayette last Tuesday. The Buckeyes’ record in their last ten games is 5-5 while the Hawkeyes’ record is 6-4 in their last 10 tilts. Iowa is 0-4 in true road games this season while Ohio State is 7-4 at Value City Arena.
