It was far from the first place to search when looking for a unique piece of the school’s history with the Civil Rights Movement.

After months of planning, the Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Steubenville will be seeing one of their projects come to fruition.  They wanted to come up with a way to show their honor and appreciation for the achievements and work of Dr.

Hundreds of people and dozens of organizations and schools took part in Jacksonville's MLK Jr. parade after nearly a month's weather delay.

The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be celebrated in Jacksonville during Black History Month after the 44th annual parade was postponed in January.

"Due to the frigid temperature tonight and the probable icy conditions of the sidewalks we have made the decision to once again postpone the planned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Candlelight Walk scheduled for 6:00 pm tonight. The Poetry and Creative Writing Readings will still take place from 2:00-4:00 in the ADUC Theatre.

Civil rights leaders, library system and city officials, and the public were invited to attend the late January ribbon cutting ceremony. The expanded branch is designed to be more accessible while expanding community programming.
