The AP also reached out to Costco, Whole Foods and Aldi for further information on Tuesday. Costco previously confirmed to CNN that the chain was limiting its customers to three packages of eggs, which are typically sold in two-dozen or four-dozen cartons.

Trader Joe's is limiting the number of eggs customers can buy because of a shortage caused by the avian flu. "Due to ongoing issues with the supply of eggs, we are currently limiting egg purchases to one dozen per customer, per day, in all Trader Joe's stores across the country," a grocery chain spokesperson told CNN.

Trader Joe's and other retailers have recently moved to enact a purchase limit on eggs as a result of issues brought on by the avian bird flu crisis.
