The Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant (SWWTP) serves Columbus and the surrounding area. The plant contains large amounts of machinery and equipment in many separate buildings. Wastewater produces hydrogen sulfide gas which corrodes metals, especially the copper in electrical equipment.
