They are Kodiak (or Alaskan) brown bears, Alaska Peninsula brown bears, and grizzly bears. Fun fact: All grizzly bears are brown bears, but not all brown bears are grizzly bears! The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is home to two Alaskan brown bear brothers named Brutus and Buckeye.

Arrived at Columbus 9 February 2023 from Louisville Zoo, Kentucky, USA. Construction of the Polar Frontier exhibit began in August 2005, opening on 6 May 2010. The design is intended to prevent stereotypical behaviour via a complex and enriched environment. In addition to polar bears the exhibit also separately houses brown bears and arctic foxes.
