The James A. Rhodes State Office Tower is a 42-story government office facility with a total of 1.2 million square feet. Originally built in 1974 and totaling approximately $66 million. The facility is named in honor of James A. Rhodes, who was elected governor in 1962, 1966, 1974 and 1978.

The James A. Rhodes State Office Tower modernization project began in January 2017 and is nearly 90% complete. Projects finished to date include, The replacement of 3,234 windows was completed in February 2021 and contributed to the building’s 2022 Energy Star certification

The 40th floor of the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower offers members of the public a bird’s-eye view of John Glenn Columbus International Airport, the city’s German Village neighborhood and the Ohio State Fair & Expo Center to name just a few landmarks.
