Everything Kyoto - Reddit
I have been to famous spots like Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto station, Nishiki market, horseracing etc. So I’m looking for hidden gems in Kyoto. Preferably related to Japanese culture (I mean not like shopping centres). Events will also be good, but I searched in calendars and there’s no event in Kyoto. Thank you so much!

5 Days in KYOTO: What to do? What to skip? : r/Kyoto - Reddit
Dec 31, 2020 · 5 days in Kyoto or 5 days in Kansai? For Kyoto itself, I think 5 days is a reasonable amount of time, but if you're using it as a base for Kansai I would recommend at least a couple more for at least day trips to Nara, Osaka, and Himeji (possibly with Kobe). For Kyoto itself, I answered almost this exact question a couple of years ago in this ...
Kyoto Language School Reccommendations : r/LearnJapanese
May 29, 2019 · Kyoto people have a lot of Japanese pride, Osaka people have an inferiority complex between them Kyoto, and Tokyo, like they don't want to be too proud of Japanese stuff because they can't compete with Kyoto. In Kyoto strangers will be extremely nice to you, maybe harder to make friends.
Where to live in Kyoto city? : r/Kyoto - Reddit
Dec 21, 2021 · Kyoto is small and shrines, cafes and local restaurants are all over the place but with that kinda cash my guess is you want to be close to Pontocho to have access to all the premium restaurants. You could do somewhere just east of the river in Higashiyama for example and have a quiet space, large if you want, but be within walking or biking ...
Best location to stay in for first visit to Kyoto?
Apr 7, 2023 · I would suggest the Cross Hotel Kyoto (different location than the Sakura Cross Hotel suggested in another comment.) It was super close to Pontocho Alley and Kiyamachi-dori. We easily walked to Gion several times. The Sanyo train station is a 5 minute walk, and it was fairly easy getting to/from Kyoto station.
What’s the best area to stay in Kyoto? : r/JapanTravelTips - Reddit
The buses to and from the further flung temples can all be gotten at Kyoto station. Many travelers arrive in Kyoto by train and depart by train and use Kyoto as a base for day trips to Nara and Osaka. Staying near Kyoto Station does seem to make the most sense to me.
Is kyoto actually a must-see? : r/JapanTravel - Reddit
Kyoto is a really cool city and it has its own atmosphere but I didn't feel it varied as much as other cities (and yet nowhere else was like Kyoto). Kyoto is fairly spread out as well and the transit system is bad comparatively. You'll spend a large chunk …
Am I crazy for skipping Kyoto? : r/JapanTravel - Reddit
Mar 9, 2024 · Kyoto was the only place I went where that bothered me several times and kind of ruined a few things I went to. For example, the transportation infrastructure is a little bit worse in Kyoto than Osaka and Tokyo, some things you might want to see are only on bus routes that are going to be overcrowded (I’ll take being crowded on a train any ...
Your favorite places you visited in Kyoto off the beaten path?
Want to see the 'real' Kyoto? This is a relatively obscure temple in a quiet part of Kyoto, best known for being home to the Shugakuin Villa (an imperial villa, also worth visiting -- free entrance by guided tour only, must be reserved in advance). The walk from Shugakuin to Manshu-in was beautiful - nothing special, but just quiet backstreets.
